It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a team that has accomplished all there is.

That it took up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

If this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the case for championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this knock followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a challenging time because I feel like I lacked timing completely," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there Healy was in motion.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship need to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph coming after win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have delayed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is expected to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
