Wythenshawe Veterans Over-35s are situated in southern Manchester and play in the Cheshire Veterans League Top Tier.

"That's a little different but then, I love running and just move forward - I'm not defending that much," he added.

"I warn my centre-back 'I'm not hanging back' and that I'm just going to keep attacking.

"The movement is what I'm seeking. It's good fun."

Along with the forward's 6 scores on debut, Stephen Ireland has scored 8 in three games for the side, while George Boyd scored 5 on his debut match and Lescott, a defender by position, notched a hat-trick in one match up front.

One opponent, 38, who features on the wing for the opposition, came up against former Latics defender Figueroa on the weekend - and had to tell his young boy who Heskey was.

"I think I was a bit starstruck facing Figueroa to be honest.

"Even Emile [Heskey] got on and he's got over 60 English caps.

"Our side competed well for a solid 20 mins but then we had a man dismissed and it was hard.

"Our group really haven't stopped chatting about it - I was phoning my mum and brother on the journey home.

"The opponents were all really nice, shaking our hands after the match - it was like facing a group of regular fellas.

"Now we are eager for the second match."
