19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.
Medvedev, a former number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former mentor his previous coach.
Now working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.
Victory also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.
His retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.
However the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.
Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to force a final set.
He defended 4 initial opportunities in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, he secured the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
